Guided nature walk proves popular
Thirty local people joined construction consortium Merseylink this weekend for a guided nature walk on Wigg Island.
The Meadow Meanders walk, which was led by Cheshire botanist Jack Swan and ecology expert Jeff Clarke, proved popular with walkers, who learned how to identify meadow flowers and took part in a ‘tree test’ challenge.
Clare from Liverpool said: “Jeff and Jack are so knowledgeable, I learn something new at each of their events. Wigg Island is a fabulous reserve to visit.”
The walk was one of three guided nature events organised by Merseylink and the Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust. Two further events, Hawks and Hawkers and ‘Beetlemania’, will take place during the summer holidays.
