A major emergency planning exercise is being held on the new Mersey Gateway Bridge this Friday morning (8 September).
Get ready for a fantastic evening of spectacular fireworks launched from Halton’s brand new bridge.
Halton Borough Council, the Mersey Gateway Crossings Board and the consortium, Merseylink, are inviting the public to join them in celebrating the completion of the new iconic structure for the north west.
The new Mersey Gateway Bridge should be open to traffic by mid-October, weather permitting.
Merseylink, the construction consortium building the new bridge, has re-assessed the programme for the remaining works and has said that the new bridge could open in a few weeks time if the weather allows the final elements of work to progress quickly.
After welcoming nearly 10,000 visitors through its doors, the Mersey Gateway’s Runcorn Information centre is to close, to make way for a successful expansion of an existing retailer at the Shopping City.
The team building Halton’s iconic new Mersey Gateway Bridge has been shortlisted for two prestigious national biodiversity awards.
