Mersey Gateway roadworks and footpath closures update – 1 September
Essential work on the Mersey Gateway Project means the following new road, lane and footpath closures will be in place over the coming days and weeks.

South west side of Ditton Roundabout | Total closure of Ditton Roundabout between Queensway southbound access road and Ditton Road eastbound access, including total closure of Queensway northbound exit slip to Ditton Roundabout and Desoto Road exit and access slip roads. Overnight and weekends only, 7pm – 5am Monday to Thursday, midnight Friday – midnight Sunday. Diversion routes to allow access to Speke, Widnes and the Multimodal Gateway will be in operation. |
| 04/09/15 – 06/09/15 | Between Ditton Roundabout and Moor Lane Roundabout | Total closure of the westbound road (from Widnes towards Ditton) connecting Moor Lane Roundabout and Ditton Roundabout from midnight Friday – midnight Sunday. A diversion via Kingsway, Liverpool Road, Hale Road and Ditton Road will be in operation. |
| 07/09/15 –11/9/15 | Under Daresbury Expressway | Closure of a section of the footpath, which runs from Castlefields Avenue North to the subway to Astmoor, under the Daresbury Expressway. A will be in place. |
| 07/09/15 –11/09/15 | Weston Point Expressway | Off-peak closure of lane one of the southbound Weston Point Expressway from the Castner-Kellner junction to the M56 junction 12 roundabout. Drivers are encouraged to find an alternative route or to allow additional time for their journeys, as delays are possible. |
| 07/09/15 – 11/09/15 | Central Expressway | Total closure of the exit slip road from the A533 Central Expressway southbound to Boston Avenue at Halton Brow. The northbound sliproad is already closed. A will be in place via the Southern Expressway. |
| 07/09/15 – 02/10/15 | Weston Point Expressway | Northbound lane 1 closure from south of the Clifton roundabout through to the footbridge on the Weston Expressway. The closure is to allow National Grid to undertake gas main works in the area. There may be delays during peak hours – drivers are encouraged to take an alternative route or to allow additional time for their journeys. |
