Merseylink boosts construction crew with local recruits

Merseylink has bolstered its bridge-building crew with the appointment of construction workers from Halton and the surrounding area.

Forty local people have joined the construction consortium so far, working across a range of roles from administration to construction, and this number will increase as work progresses.

Merseylink opens second round of Time Bank scheme

Halton community organisations, local businesses, and schools are once again being invited to apply for specialist support through the Merseylink Time Bank.

New road closures – 8 September

Essential work on the Mersey Gateway Project means the following new road closures will begin over the coming fortnight.

09/09/14 – 11/09/14 Southbound slip road from Halton Brow to Central Expressway TOTAL closure of southbound slip road from Halton Brow to Central Expressway (including Halton Lea exit).Local diversions will be in operation.
12/09/14 Southbound slip road from Halton Lea to Central Expressway TOTAL closure of southbound slip road from Halton Lea to Central Expressway for 12 September only.Local diversions will be in operation.
15/09/14 Central Expressway Off-peak lane 2 closures on Central Expressway northbound an d southbound between Halton Brook and Calvers.
16/09/14 – 17/09/14 A562 Speke Road (Ditton Flyover) Off-peak lane 2 closures in both directions for barrier repairs.
20/09/14 – 30/09/14 Weston Link TOTAL closure of Weston Link northbound from the Weston Point Expressway slip road. This will affect entry onto both the A533 northbound Central Expressway and the A533 eastbound Southern Expressway.The southbound carriageway of Weston Link, heading towards the A557 Weston Point Expressway, will remain open. Local diversions will be in operation
