Mersey Gateway roadworks update
New works
Essential work on the Mersey Gateway Project means the following new road, lane and footpath closures will be in place over the coming days and weeks.
Please note the table below does not include details of ongoing work. For information on existing major closures and diversion routes, visit Plan Your Journey on the Mersey Gateway website.
| Date | Road | Details |
| 05/5/17 – 08/5/17 | A562 Speke Road, Widnes | Weekend closure (7.30pm Friday– 5am Monday) of Speke Road. The direction of the closure, and therefore the diversion, will alternate between the northbound and southbound Speke Road.

| 06/5/17 – 07/5/17 | Beechwood Avenue, Runcorn | Weekend overnight closures (9.30pm – 6am) of Clifton Road / Beechwood Avenue between Rocksavage Way and Betchworth Crescent. A diversion will be in place. |
| 08/5/17 – 10/5/17 | A533 Central Expressway, Runcorn | Total closure of the southbound access slip road to Halton Lea. A diversion will be in place. |
| 11/5/17 – 26/5/17 | A562 Speke Road, Widnes | Overnight closures (7.30pm – 5.30am) of Speke Road. The direction of the closure, and therefore the diversion, will alternate between the northbound and southbound Speke Road. |
