Mersey Gateway roadworks and footpath closures update – 30 November 2015
Essential work on the Mersey Gateway Project means the following new road, lane and footpath closures will be in place over the coming days and weeks.

| 30/11/15 – approx. seven months | Central Expressway, Runcorn | The Central Expressway will be closed in both directions between Halton Lea and the Lodge Lane Interchange. Separate northbound (via Weston Point Expressway) and southbound (via Runcorn Shopping Centre) diversions will be in place. The slip road from Weston Link to M56 Junction 12 remains closed. |

| 2/12/15 – 3/12/15 | Watkinson Way, Widnes | Off peak (9.30am – 3.30pm) lane closures on Watkinson Way in both directions between Queensway and Hutchinson St overbridge |
| 7/12/15 – mid February 2016 | Halton South Footbridge, Runcorn | Closure of Halton South Footbridge (known locally as the Asda footbridge) for structure repairs. A diversion via Halton Lodge footbridge will be in place. |
| 7/12/15 – 8/12/15 | Desoto Road, Widnes | Overnight closure of the north/westbound slip road running from Queensway to Desoto Road. There will be a diversion via Ditton Junction. |
| 14/12/15 – 15/12/15 | Ditton Flyover, Widnes | Overnight lane closure on the main carriageway and southbound access slip road from Ditton Roundabout. |
| 14/12/15 – 18/12/15 | Wandsworth Way and Hutchinson Street, Widnes | There will be three-way temporary traffic lights installed overnight at the junction of Wandsworth Way and Hutchinson Street between 7.30pm and 5am. |
The partial closure of the Central Expressway from the end of this month means that a number of existing diversion routes in that area will be changing from 30 November. The revised diversions cover the following routes:
- Northbound slip road from Boston Avenue to Central Expressway
- Central Expressway to Weston Link
- Weston Link to Central Expressway
