Plea for children to act safely around Halton’s roads
Police and the construction team behind the new Mersey Gateway bridge are appealing for youngsters to act safely around Halton’s roads.
Merseylink and Cheshire Police have issued the plea following reports that youngsters have been throwing logs, branches and stones onto some of the area’s busiest roads – putting motorists, workers and themselves at risk.

Motorists advised to be aware of major new expressway diversion in Runcorn
Motorists are being advised of a major new road diversion in Runcorn as work progresses towards the construction of the new Mersey Gateway bridge.
The southbound slip road from the A533 Central Expressway to Weston Link at the Lodge Lane junction will be permanently closed from Monday, July 27 as part of the ongoing changes to the road layout in and around the town. Read more →

Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust receives over £190k in funding for a new three-year environmental management programme
The Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust has received £190,110 from UK environmental funding body WREN to support its three-year long ‘Beyond Our Bridges’ project in the Upper Mersey Estuary.
The unique independent charity, which was created as part of the £1.86bn Mersey Gateway Project, aims to use the funding to bring the Upper Mersey Estuary area into a good ecological state, creating a functional eco-system which will be monitored to chart the development of the Estuary over the next 30 years.
