GVA Grimley appointed as planning consultants
GVA Grimley has been appointed by Halton Borough Council as the Mersey Gateway’s Planning and Regeneration advisers. An important early task will be to prepare a regeneration framework for the setting of the new bridge, which will cross the River Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes.
GVA Grimley will also be charged with leading the submission of the planning application.
Iain Jenkinson, Partner in the Planning, Developments and Regeneration team at GVA Grimley says: “This is a much needed crossing for Halton, for the people of Runcorn and Widnes, and for commuters and the wider business community across the north west. The crossing is the catalyst that can inspire and deliver regeneration throughout Halton and the Liverpool city-region. GVA Grimley is committed to the challenge of facilitating a deliverable plan for Mersey Gateway and ensuring that the opportunities that the bridge brings will be to the benefit of those most in need.”
Steve Nicholson, Mersey Gateway Project Director, added: “We are delighted GVA Grimley are part of the team. We now have a highly skilled and experienced planning operation which will allow us to meet the many challenges we face over the coming months and years.”
