Long-eared owl breeding season protected by Mersey Gateway advance works
The breeding patterns of a pair of long-eared owls that have been nesting in Wigg Island are being protected thanks to work on the Mersey Gateway Project being brought forward to avoid disrupting their nesting season.
During November 2012 just under two hectares of woodland alongside the former Runcorn to Latchford canal spur on Wigg Island in Runcorn have been felled and cleared. Read more →

Students from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) have been getting some inspiration from the team behind the Mersey Gateway Project this week.

Revision to MGL consortium approved by Mersey Gateway Project
The team behind the Mersey Gateway Project has approved a change to one of the bidding partners in the MGL consortium.
BAM Nuttall has joined the MGL consortium to replace Galliford Try Investments Limited. Halton Borough Council has now formally reassessed the revised MGL consortium and has approved the change. Read more →

The Mersey Gateway project has been named as one of the world’s most important infrastructure projects by an influential new report.
The KMPG Infrastructure 100: World Cities Edition, recognises inventive and well-designed infrastructure projects from cities around the world, and has included the project as an example in innovation an impact on society.
