Essential work on the Mersey Gateway Project means the following roads and footpaths will be closed over the coming week.

01/09/14 – 02/09/14 | Central Expressway and slip roads | Lane 1 closure on Central Expressway Northbound between Lodge Lane and Halton Lea to include TOTAL closure of Exit Slip to Halton Lea, for Drainage CCTV and Site Clearance. Diversions will be in operation. |
03/09/14 – 05/09/14 | Central Expressway and Halton Lea slip road | Lane 1 closure on Central Expressway Northbound between Halton Lea and Halton Brow to include TOTAL closure of Halton Lea slip from Spur Road and Halton Brow Exit slip, for Drainage CCTV. Diversions will be in operation. |

Local community to benefit from Merseylink Time Bank
Five community organisations in Halton are set to receive expert assistance from Merseylink’s bridge-building team.
West Bank Community Centre, Daresbury Primary School, Riverside College, Milner Church Institute and the Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust have all been successful in their applications to the first round of the Merseylink Time Bank. Read more →
Halton student joins the Merseylink team
A university student from Halton has become the latest addition to the Merseylink team.
Louise Cash, 20, has joined Merseylink, which is responsible for delivering the £600m new bridge project between Runcorn and Widnes, on a year-long paid internship as the project’s volunteer coordinator. Read more →
Mersey Gateway project looking for local volunteers
Local residents from Halton and the surrounding area are being invited to become volunteers and be part of the ‘once in a lifetime’ Mersey Gateway Bridge project.
Merseylink is holding a volunteer information day on Tuesday 2 September 2014 at 5.45pm in the Kingsway Learning Centre in Widnes to give potential volunteers an idea of the role they could play.
So far around 40 local people have enrolled as volunteers with Merseylink. The construction consortium is seeking hundreds more to join the project team and help to tell the story of Halton and the £600m bridge – one of the largest building projects in the UK – over the next three and a half years.
