M56 junction 12 works to take place at weekends in April as part of new Mersey bridge works

Drivers using the area around Junction 12 of the M56 through Cheshire are being urged to allow extra time for weekend journeys in April due to a series of weekend road closures connected with the Mersey Gateway Project.

As part of the work to construct link roads to the new bridge, the A557 Weston Point Expressway roundabout off junction 12 of the M56 is being re-modelled with restricted access for motorway users at the end of the month with the two slip road closures. Read more →

Wildflower bulbs donated to Norton Priory

Hundreds of wildflower bulbs have been donated to Norton Priory after being removed from a busy Runcorn road.

Merseylink scaffolding specialist hires local apprentices to work on Halton’s iconic bridge project

In recognition of National Apprentice Week (14-18 March 2016) Merseylink is pleased to announce that its scaffolding supplier Altrad NSG has hired two local apprentices to work on the Mersey Gateway Project.

David McNamara, 22, and Paul Humphries, 20, both from Runcorn, have joined the scaffolding and industrial services specialist on a 20-month apprenticeship scheme. Read more →

Volunteer with Mersey Gateway and become part of Halton’s history

Local people are getting another chance to become part of Halton’s history by joining the volunteer team working with the Mersey Gateway Project.

Construction joint venture Merseylink has trained up 50 volunteers so far and is now looking for more passionate and enthusiastic local people who want to help tell the story of the bridge and Halton’s history.

A volunteer information event will be held on Wednesday 16 March 2016 at 5.30pm-6.30pm in the Kingsway Learning Centre in Widnes so people can find out more. Read more →
