The construction consortium, which is building Halton’s new Mersey Gateway Bridge, brought early Christmas cheer to the Halton Lodge and Grange Pre-School yesterday (Thursday 17 December 2015).
Around 30 children and their parents enjoyed the festive celebration, which included a reptile show, gifts, balloons, party food – and a visit from Father Christmas.
Some youngsters were also encouraged to ‘dump their dummies’ in exchange for a small gift from underneath the Christmas tree.
Merseylink’s generous staff team funded the Christmas party, donating around £1250 to make the occasion possible. The funds will also go towards a much needed wall mounted baby change unit.
The pre-school is a registered charity, which cares for youngsters aged between two and four years old, supports children with special educational needs and many vulnerable children. It is run by a volunteer committee and operates from a mobile unit within the grounds of Woodside Primary School.
Jill Berry, manager of Halton Lodge and Grange Pre-School said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Merseylink on behalf of all the children, staff, parents and carers at Halton Lodge and Grange Pre-school. The Christmas party surpassed all expectations and we’re extremely grateful.”
Rachel Moseley, Merseylink’s Supply Chain Manager, who organised the event said: “The Merseylink team are a generous bunch and it’s a wonderful feeling to know that we have been able to treat local youngsters at this time of year. We even managed to persuade Father Christmas to visit a little earlier with some extra presents for the children.”
Rachel added that the team would like to thank Village Catering, a local business and Merseylink supplier, which provided catering for the event.
