Merseylink helps organise community Christmas parties for residents
The Merseylink project and its staff have donated £1000 to the West Bank Community Centre to help with costs towards two Christmas parties for children and senior citizens.
The first Christmas party was held on December 10, for 25 local children who attend day care at West Bank Community Centre, in Widnes.
The children, aged from six months to four years-old, regularly attend day care at the centre.
On December 18, a second party will be held for 45 senior citizens who use the centre on a regular basis.
Richard Walker, Project Director, said the money will be used to provide party-goers with a traditional three-course Christmas meal, and is an opportunity for them to socialise and spend time with other members of the community.
“The donation has helped pay for catering for both parties, decorations and a new Christmas tree for the Community Centre, plus selection boxes and gifts for the children. Those attending the second event will have the chance to have a festive glass of sherry while having a game of bingo,” he said.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has donated to help make these children and senior citizens’ Christmas extra special. This money will help to make sure they all go away with happy memories, and to bring some festive cheer to the local community.”
Richard added that the team would like to thank Glyn Furfie at Snackshack for providing the catering for the event.
