Mersey Gateway welcomes delegation from Shanghai Construction Group on UK construction innovation fact-finding tour

Hosted by the Institution of Civil Engineers, the delegation of nine Chinese engineers and leading academics visited the Project as part of a fact-finding mission to the UK – seeking to draw on British innovation and to look at the prospect of investing in construction projects in the UK.

Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust receives over £190k in funding for a new three-year environmental management programme

The Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust has received £190,110 from UK environmental funding body WREN to support its three-year long ‘Beyond Our Bridges’ project in the Upper Mersey Estuary.

Upper Mersey Estuary

The unique independent charity, which was created as part of the £1.86bn Mersey Gateway Project, aims to use the funding to bring the Upper Mersey Estuary area into a good ecological state, creating a functional eco-system which will be monitored to chart the development of the Estuary over the next 30 years.

Environmental Trust welcomes Widnes student for summer long work placement

Adam Penney from Widnes this week began a summer long work placement with the Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust.

Currently in his third year studying Geography at Bangor University in North Wales, Adam contacted the Trust directly to set up a period of part-time professional placement following his academic interest and aspiration to pursue a career in environmental conservation.

Mersey Gateway unique financial deal wins international acclaim as ‘Best Roads Project’

The deal to finance the £1.86bn Mersey Gateway Project that saw Halton Borough Council appoint the Merseylink consortium as the project company has now picked up its third award, this time at the Partnerships Awards 2015 for ‘Best Road Project’.

In a strong category of esteemed infrastructure projects across Europe, the Project took home the prize being deemed by the Partnerships Awards judging panel as “One of the most impressive, high profile and complex projects to have closed in the UK in recent years.”
